Comprehensive Community Support Worker (CCSS)

Community Support Workers are designed to increase each person's ability to operate independently at home and in their community. The program is client-centered. The client works with a Community Support Worker to create their own goals related to symptom management, accessing community resources, and independence/life skills. Program staff work with each client to learn about accessing various resources/services, helping them initiate the process.

CCSS is a culturally sensitive service that promotes recovery, rehabilitation, and resiliency. CCSS identifies and addresses barriers that held the client back. They also identify the client’s strengths to help the recipient and family in the recovery or resiliency process. CCSS activities provide assistance in the development of interpersonal and community coping and functional skills including:

  • Socialization Skills – Practicing conversation by role-playing different scenarios, like meeting a new classmate.

  • Developmental Issues- Identifying challenges like speech delays in young children and implementing speech therapy techniques.

  • Daily Living Skills – Teaching a child how to prepare simple meals, such as making a sandwich or pouring cereal.

  • School and Work Readiness Activities- Organizing a mock job interview to help teens prepare for real-life job applications.

  • Education on Co-occurring Illnesses- Providing information on how anxiety can affect someone with ADHD and strategies to manage both conditions effectively.
