Celebrating Women's Month: My Journey and My Business

As a proud female entrepreneur, I want to take a moment this Women’s Month to reflect on my journey and the values that drive my business. My name is Desiree Garcia, and I founded You Matter Counseling Services, LLC in 2020 with the vision of helping my community, supporting those who feel alone, and creating a warm and safe environment where people can come as they are and feel welcomed.

Starting my own business has been both a challenging and rewarding experience. One major challenge I faced as a business owner was dealing with self-doubt. Early on, I often questioned whether I was capable of leading my company, especially when it came time to hire my first employee. I worried about providing enough work and whether I could be an effective leader.

To overcome this, I sought mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs and connected with other female business owners. Their support helped me realize that self-doubt is common and doesn't have to hinder progress. I learned to trust my instincts and embrace mistakes as part of my growth.

These experiences have shaped my understanding of the importance of resilience, community support, and the need for female representation in the business world.

At You Matter Counseling Services, LLC, we specialize in mental health. Our goal is not only to provide positive mental health care and support but also to create a positive impact in our community. We strive to empower our clients by offering resources and programs that promote well-being and foster gender equality.

During Women’s Month, I am particularly proud to celebrate the incredible women who inspire me daily—both within my business and beyond. I believe in supporting female-led initiatives and collaborating with other women entrepreneurs. Together, we can create a network of support and empowerment.

This month, I encourage everyone to uplift the women around them, share their stories, and continue pushing for equality. Whether it’s through mentoring, shopping from women-owned businesses, or simply spreading awareness, every action counts.

I am excited to see how far we can go together. Thank you for being part of this journey, and let’s continue to celebrate the strength and resilience of women everywhere!
